This section contains information intended to be discovered by the player themselves.<

Prototypes are a special variation of Augments. Acquired only from special side-areas which rarely appear during runs, these items offer a significant benefit in exchange for a significant drawback.

Unlike regular Augments, Prototypes do not need to be unlocked first.

Available Prototypes

Sanity Converter.png Sanity Converter Grants the user a 2.0x Power Strength multiplier.
Using a Power grants Power Strength by +1 and Maximum Energy -1.
If Owlhawk's Focus applies, Maximum Energy is not consumed.
With Powers which use a fraction of energy, they have a chance of reducing Maximum Energy relative to how much Energy they use.
If playing as a Revenant, the Power multiplier is instead 2.5x.
Powers consume maximum energy and deal immense damage.
Your sanity slips.

Your sanity returns.
The way is clearer than ever.
System Restore.png Maximum Energy no longer drains when Powers are used. Power Strength no longer increases when Powers are used.
Violence Enhancer.png Violence Enhancer Causes the user to recieve double damage.
Attack and Power Strength boost is relative to the user's current stats (5 if less than 5, 10 if more than 10, equal otherwise)
If playing as a Revenant, get 3 extra Attack and Power Strength.
Damage massively increased. For everyone.

Violence consumes you.

Defiant Decree.png Defiant Decree Bosses gain 50% extra health
Bosses give 1 extra Boss Chest when defeated.
No bonus effect if playing as a Revenant.
Bosses gain +50% HP and grant 2 chests.
No guts, no glory.

Glory is easily achieved.
System Restore.png Bosses lose their 50% extra health.
Brutish Augmentation.png Brutish Augmentation The user becomes unable to use Powers, and loses all their Maximum Energy.
The user gains a 1.5x damage multiplier to Primary attacks.
If playing as a Revenant, the Attack multiplier is instead 2.0x.
Cast your powers aside. Embrace your primal power.
Brutish rage overcomes you.
Powers Disabled.
Maximum Energy set to 0.

Powers Enabled.
Restores Lost Maximum Energy.
System Restore.png The user can use Powers again, and restores their lost Maximum Energy.
Focusing Sagelens.png Focusing Sagelens Grants the user a 2.0x Power Strength multiplier.
Note that having -18 Attack Strength essentially means your Primaries deal 1 damage.
If playing as a Revenant, the Power multiplier is instead 3.0x.
Unlock true wisdom. Cast aside your savage nature.

Restores lost Attack Strength.
System Restore.png Attack Strength is restored.
Earthmetal Plating.png Earthmetal Plating Increases the user's Maximum HP and Maximum Energy equal to the sum of their Attack Strength and Power Strength.
If the sum of the values is negative, Max HP and Max Energy is decreased instead.
If playing as a Revenant, If the sum of the values is negative, Max HP and Max Energy does not decreased or increased .
Become one with the planet. May reduce output.
Increases Maximum HP and Maximum Energy*.
Attack Strength set to 0.
Power Strength set to 0.

Restores lost Attack Strength.
Restores lost Power Strength.
System Restore.png Attack and Power Strength is restored.
Interesting Times.png Interesting Times Every level, two random stats are increased and decreased relative to the current level number.
Additionally, the effects of the previous level's changes are reset.
No bonus effect if playing as a Revenant.
Ebb and flow with the times...

Times become reliably good!
System Restore.png You no longer get the decreased stat on each level change - only the positive effect applies.
Uncharging Force.png Uncharging Force Attempting to charge your weapon will do nothing.
Does not affect the Rippling Axe or Plasma Blender.
If playing as a Revenant, gain 11 Attack Strength instead.
Gain incredible strength. Never hold it in again.

Charging Enabled
System Restore.png Restores your ability to charge your weapon.
Final Shell.png Final Shell For every pip of Maximum Health lost, the user gets 2 pips of Armour.
If playing as a Revenant, gain 3 pips of Armour per Maximum Health lost instead.
Incredible protection shields the frailest core.
Grants Armour*.
Maximum Health set to 1.

Restores lost Maximum Health.
System Restore.png Lost Maximum Health is restored.
Zookeeper's Burden.png Zookeeper's Burden Attempting to attack or fire a Power will do nothing.
Repros granted aren't affected by Hysteria, but they are affected by Splintering Twinifier.
If playing as a Revenant, also gain a Zookeeper's Sigil augment.
All attacking and Powers are disabled. Gain one of each Repro.

System Restore.png Restores your ability to attack and use Powers.
Consuming Fury.png Consuming Fury Grants +2 Attack Strength and +2 Power Strength every level.
Reduces Maximum Health by 2 each level.
If playing as a Revenant, Attack and Power Strength increases by 3 instead.

The agony abates.
System Restore.png Maximum Health no longer reduces over time, but any lost Maximum Health is not restored.
Hysteria.png Hysteria Any future non-Prototype Aug the user picks up will be doubled.
Causes the user to recieve triple damage.
If playing as a Revenant, Augs are tripled but damage taken is quadrupled.
Gain dizzying powers from future augs!

Contractor Beta.png Contractor Beta Adds a multiplier to your Attack and Power Strength, relative to how much health you currently have.
At 0% health, the user deals 30% damage. At 100% health, the user deals 120% damage.
Not affected by Armour.
If playing as a Revenant, any bonus above 100% is doubled, up to 140%.
Boosts all your abilities. Stay healthy, friend.
+2 to All Stats!

Missing Health Penalty removed!
System Restore.png Damage no longer scales below 100%. If your health is high, you still get the bonus up to 120%.
Kingseeker.png Kingseeker Health pickups no longer drop.
Buggy - most other forms of healing still work.
If playing as a Revenant, gain +2 Maximum Health per boss defeated.
Boss kills heal to full. No other healing.
Bathe in glory.

Bathe however you like!
System Restore.png Health pickups drop again, and healing from disabled sources now works.
Vitality Partitioner.png Vitality Partitioner Maximum Energy increases by 3 for every 1 Maximum Health lost.
No bonus effect if playing as a Revenant.
Optimally partitions your vitality.

128px Patchwork Integrator Set bonuses require only 2 Core Augments.
Allows for 2 set bonuses at a time.
